WIIDOKWIDAA
Aboriginal Emergency Management Workshop

The upcoming workshop on, “Aboriginal Emergency Management”, held at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. West (view map) is scheduled on March 23rd and 24th, 2009.

The event is supported by Noojimawin Health Authority, and our team partners the Toronto Public Health Unit and City of Toronto, and the Emergency Management Unit of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The theme, “Wiidokwidaa – Let's Work Together”, is shared with us by Elder Alex Jacobs to help us facilitate the overall goal of the workshop. We hope it is a start to initiating a dialogue towards creating a framework of a future emergency response plan with members of First Nations, Aboriginal and Metis community in the GTA. On behalf of the team planning committee, Noojimawin Health Authority looks forward to having you participate in hearing from speakers and presenters in emergency management on the first day, as well as participatory sessions on the second day.

Please share the information to members in our community who may be interested in attending this event. Noojimawin Health Authority is encouraging members of our community to participate in the workshop. Megwetch and hope to see you all there.
